Biblical Theocracy can be seen in
the way the Minor Prophets depicted it – a loving relationship God had with
Israel. God wooing Israel as a wife, caring for her even in her impurity,
degradation and suffering.
When Israel camped in the
wilderness with God as their king, they had the tabernacle in the center and
around the tabernacle were the twelve tribes of Israel in separate camps. Here,
we see decentralized government whereas in the time Pharaoh and in our time
today, the reverse is the case – all power & wealth of the economy flows to
the center.
God gave Jesus the kingdoms of this
world, but He doesn’t force us to follow Him; it’s a choice! He even died at
the hands of his persecutors. There’s no enforcement or coercion of a theocracy
through Christ upon the world.
If we really have a vision for a better tomorrow, the first best thing we need to do away with is political and economic injustice especially centralism.
