When Will Deliverance Come?
Back in the Old Testament times, kingdoms and rulers will plot together to see how they will take a grip on the nations and on the masses of the people, enslave and dominate them.
However, this isn’t how God made
humanity and creation. He made us to be free, to be neighbours, to live in
peaceful communities and to love one another.
Yet over and over again, throughout
the whole Bible we see the rise of centralism – the centralling of power within
the hands of a few as the plotted to re-extend their greed and the power for themselves.
In Psalms 2, David said when these happens, the Lord will see it.
When these earthly powers make
their plans, we (the people) don’t have the power to resist it. But there is
one who is more powerful and owns all things (Psalms 24).
Today we see the centralization of power. This centralization of power is a centralization of economic power primarily. However, we are looking forward to decentralization of power so that we can rebuild our communities, become neighbours again, help and save one another again and also see God’s blessings in our local regions.
God promises time and time again
in the Old Testament that he will step him and renew His creation. He said He
will bring judgement. This is the great hope and great promise that God gives
to us. But the question is WHEN WILL GOD STEP IN?
Psalm 2 doesn’t say when exactly. God did promise and He alone knows he time. He is the judge who judges the wicked. He alone when their iniquity is full. This is how God brings judgment through the fullness of their iniquity. The iniquity of Pharaoh is what hardened his heart and drowned him in the Red Sea. God uses the fullness of the iniquity of our enemies to bring about their final downfall and to renew His word in His creation.
It's the time of trouble and tribulation. but ultimately, it's a time of change. It's a time of justice and of God stepping in and bringing about the deliverance for His people.
